October 2016 Goals!!

October 05, 2016 in Intentional Living, Goals

Is it just me or does it seem totally crazy that it’s already OCTOBER?!?! Seriously, I’m over here buying my planner for 2017, wondering what happened to 2016? Crazy! I mentioned a few weeks ago when I posted my September Goals that I would give you a ‘progress update’ when I wrote about my October goals. Still trying to figure out the best way to do that, but for now, I just used a little copy + paste action with updates in parentheses (and checkmarks/X’s). Enjoy!

 * September Goals Progress:

Monthly Goals:

o   Attend Anchor Group--what we call our church’s small groups [it didn’t hurt that group met at our house last month ;)] ✓

o   Visit my little brother in Arkansas (10+ hours in a car in one day=worth it!) ✓

o   Set up a budget with Tye (We are taking a Dave Ramsey class & had to do a basic budget, but still need to tweak it more!) ✓

o   Finish “Anchor Next” class (we were ‘greeters’ on our church’s one year anniversary a few weeks ago!!) ✓

o   Write at least one encouraging postcard (totally didn’t happen…) ✗

o   Do at least one de-clutter project around the house (cleaned out unused jackets from the coat closet!) ✓

o   Have family/friends over for dinner (I mentioned in an Instagram post that we had people over for dinner several times last month!) ✓✓✓

o   Prepare for ornament sales next month (I ordered supplies and started working on pictures & listings. The goal is to have everything ready to go by October 10th!) ✓

Weekly Goals:

o   Plan Meals (dinners) [3/4 ain’t bad ;)] ✓

o   Do the laundry/clean the house ✓

o   Spend quality time with Tye Beaux (a dinner date, a movie, and some intentional time just talking about life!)✓

o   Do at least one lesson in my Adobe Illustrator (online) class (totally failed at doing this one…oops!) ✗

o   Call my family ✓

o   Weigh-in and take measurements for our weight-loss progress chart (We took a week off last week, but otherwise completed this!) ✓

o   Post on my blog [3/4 ain’t bad ;)] ✓

o   Go to church [3/4 ain’t bad ;)] ✓

Daily Goals:

o   Read the Bible(I did this about 55% of the time) ✓

o   Spend time in prayer (65% of the time) ✓

o   Walk the dog (I did this 3-4 times every week, which is my general aim) ✓

o   Exercise (3-4x/week) ✓

o   Do my physical therapy stretches (did good with this the last two weeks of the month?) ✓

o   Read (I’d say 28/30 days = goal met! I read 5-6 books) ✓

o   Be in bed before 1a.m. (still working on this one…only made it to bed at a decent hour about 3 days a week…) ✓✗

 * October Goals *

Monthly Goals:

o   Have friends/family over for dinner

o   Attend Anchor Group

o   Set up (& implement) weekday “blocking” schedule *

o   Set up a detailed budget for October with Tye

o   Attend family wedding

o   Write at least one encouraging postcard

o   Do at least one de-clutter project around the house (I’m thinking something office-related as it’s been a hot mess for the last 9+ months!)

o   Schedule doctor’s appointment (just a routine visit—nothing to worry about)

o   Finish prep for ornaments (update pictures & Etsy listings) & SELL ORNAMENTS!! **

o   Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class with Tye

Weekly Goals:

o   Plan Meals/Dinners (I’m trying to do more of the cooking too, so planning meals that don’t involve grilling…haha)

o   Do the laundry/clean the house

o   Spend quality time with Tye Beaux (hoping to get more creative this month!)

o   Do at least one lesson in my Adobe Illustrator (online) class

o   Call my family

o   Weigh-in and take measurements for our weight-loss progress chart

o   Post on my blog

o   Go to church

Daily Goals:

o   Read the Bible

o   Spend time in prayer

o   Walk the dog (goal this month= do this more on the weekends too!)

o   Exercise (3-4x/week)

o   Do my physical therapy stretches (I’m going to try doing these first thing in the morning to see if it makes a difference)

o   Read (If I read a book a week for the rest of the year, I’ll have read 50 books this year…wow!)

o   Be in bed before 1a.m. (obviously still a night owl…)

You may have noticed that a lot of my goals are the same as last month. That’s not always the case. I have tweaked them over the last few months, but knowing that there will be more on my plate this month, I intentionally didn’t try to add a lot of new big things. This year has also just really been a year of learning to be consistent with the things that are important to me.  Most of my goals are pretty long-term, and thus require months of consistent effort (but yes, I do mix it up and the next two months will likely look a little different with the holidays and everything!).

* In case you aren’t familiar, “blocking” is basically where you schedule tasks for a certain time/day each week. I heard about it awhile back (popular for work at home/small business owner gals), but after reading an article about it in the latest issue of Belong magazine I decided to give it a try! Still fleshing it all out, but I’m thinking of making Monday be a slow-paced ‘household tasks’ kind of day.

**If you’ve been following me online for awhile, you know that I’ve sold wood state cutout ornaments the last couple of years. I plan on doing that again this year, and they will be available SOON in my Etsy shop!! (I’ll post a link and mention it on social media when it’s all set up.)
